Biography
Dr Eleni Malissiova has qualified as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Aristotles University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2002, specialized in food hygiene and technology of food of animal origin and holds a PhD on dairy hygiene focused on health and nutritional claims of organic milk from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Thessaly. She has also acquired an MSc in Food Safety, Hygiene and Management (Univeristy of Birminghmam, UK) and another MSc in European Food Regulatory Affairs (Ulster University, UK). Eleni has been working professionally since 2002, when she commenced as an auditor in the food industry in the UK. She carried on working for the Greek Authorities, as a Veterinary Officer for Public Health (auditing and laboratory based). Since 2010 she is in academia lecturing food safety and quality management systems, food law, food ethics, food of animal origin technology and quality control (milk, dairy, meat and fishery) and currently she is an Assistant Professor in Animal Science Department, at University of Thessaly, Greece. Eleni has several publications in peer reviewed scientific journals and has participated in several national and EU funded research projects as coordinator or member.
